Acupuncture Sydney
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles into various areas of the body to trigger a therapeutic response. It can be used in a wide range of conditions from external issues such as sporting injuries and chronic pain to more internal conditions including stress, fatigue, digestive issues and sleep difficulties.
At Village Remedies Sydney acupuncture clinics in Balmain and the CBD, we have experience working with clients who have presented with issues such as:
- Headaches and migraines
- Neck and back pain
- Joint pain
- Nerve pain
- Sporting injuries
- IBS and digestive disorders
- Insomnia
- Hormonal imbalances and menstrual issues
- Fertility
- Stress and anxiety
- Chronic fatigue
- And many more
There is no one style or form of acupuncture, instead acupuncture needles may be used in a variety of different ways to better suit the client and/or the condition. At Village Remedies Sydney, our practitioners all have extensive training in various acupuncture methods that we have found to be effective for our clients. We are also continuously learning and developing to bring the most benefit to those we see in our clinics.
Approaches of acupuncture can be split in two main categories:
- Distal Acupuncture - involves the use of points distant to or away from the affected area, for example there are points on the hand traditionally indicated for lower back pain. The distal points we use are mostly on the arms, hands, legs and feet, making it convenient to treat multiple issues at once. This is our preferred method of treatment as there is usually very quick feedback and we are able to treat internal imbalances as well as pain. See our distal acupuncture page for more information.
- Local Acupuncture - is the use of points within the affected tissues of an injury, pain or dysfunction. While this can be an effective treatment for certain conditions and at certain stages of recovery, there is an increased risk of aggravating an already irritated and/or inflamed area and causing an increase in pain initially, particularly if the practitioner is not precise and too aggressive with needling. Dry needling falls into this category of treatment, as does motor point acupuncture and electro acupuncture.
At Village Remedies Sydney acupuncture clinics in Balmain and CBD, we use a combination of distal and local acupuncture treatments such as dry needling (or “ashi” needling), motor point acupuncture and electro acupuncture to best suit each person and their condition. Your practitioner will be able to determine what treatments will be most effective for you and work with you towards recovery.
